Chris Crane: SXSW Premiere Of Run This Town

DGC Ontario Production Designer Chris Crane on the SXSW premiere of Run This Town.

“When I found out that the Ricky Tollman’s feature Run This Town (which I Production Designed!) was making its world premiere at SXSW, I was ecstatic. Over the years I’ve had to miss out on a few opening nights because they were happening at far-away festivals. I always had an excuse not to go; I should be focused on my next project! Does anyone care if I go? But when RUN THIS TOWN announced it would have its World Premiere at SXSW I decided these excuses were not acceptable anymore! I wanted to actively celebrate my craft and the craft of those we work with. And with that, I booked my trip to SXSW!

“Not only did I get to see the film I designed for the first time at the Paramount Theatre on Congress Ave, I also had the pleasure of experiencing some very exciting panels. Two of the most outstanding panels I attended were ‘DESIGNING WORLDS‘ featuring Kalina Ivanov (Little Miss Sunshine) and Kaet McAnney (Daniel Isnt Real, S.N.L.) and ‘CONCEPTS TO EXECUTION IN TV‘ which featured Michael Bricker (Russian Doll) and Yvonne Boudreaux (Yellowstone). It was very inspiring to hear about the different design packages they put together and about the artists and films that inspire them in their work. I will never allow myself to miss out on an opportunity like the one I had in Austin again.”
